Haridwar

Haridwar, the sacred city of India, is just 225 kms northeast of Delhi. Haridwar is quiet popular for its temples, bathing ghats and tanks. Situated on the banks of river Ganga, devotees from all over the world, flock to this land in order to have a holy dip and attain sanctity.

Location : Haridwar is located 214 km northeast of Delhi, along a 3 km stretch of the Ganges River, Haridwar rests in the foothills of the Shivalik

Rishikesh
Ganga Ghat, RishikeshRishikesh, better known as the 'place of sages’, this place falls at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga. Rishikesh is actually considered the starting point of the Chardham Yatra. The abode is culturally very rich and is good for those who want to try out meditation, yoga and other aspects of Hinduism. For the adventure lovers, Rishikesh is provides a good platform for trekking expeditions to the Himalayan peaks and for rafting.

Another thing which attracts travelers is the, International Yoga Week, held every year, in February on the banks of the Ganga.

Location : Situated in the northern part of Uttar Pradesh, Rishikesh is 238 km northeast of Delhi and 24 km north of Haridwar. Rishikesh is abounded by hills on three sides and is nestled at a height of 356 meters above sea level.

Day 01 : Delhi - Haridwar
Ganga Ghat, RishikeshMorning transfer to the railway station to board the super fast train Shatabadi Exp. to Haridwar. Arrive Haridwar & transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit various temples including Pareshwar Mahadev Temple, Daksha Mahadev Temple and Mansa Devi Temple. Evening visit Har-ki-Pauri (the footstep of God)- one of the most sacred ghats in India. Later witness Aarti of the Holy River Ganges. Aarti is the beautiful ceremony in which deeyas (the oil lamps) are offered to God. Over night stay in Haridwar.

Day 02 : Haridwar - Rishikesh - Delhi
Morning drive to Rishikesh - also known as the 'place of sages', at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga. It is the starting point for the Char dham pilgrims but also for the people who are interested in meditation, yoga and other aspects of Hinduism. In Rishikesh, visit Laxman Jhula- a hanging bridge on the river Ganga is one of the most famous spot in Rishikesh. According to Indian mythology, Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama crossed the Ganga with the help of hanging bridge made of Jute. The bridge offers a scenic view of the river Ganga as it tumbles down to Haridwar. Also visit Bharat Mandir - the oldest temple in Rishikesh, near the Triveni Ghat. This temple is dedicated to Bharat, the younger brother of Lord Ram. Optional activities -White water rafting. Late afternoon drive to Haridwar & transfer to railway station to board the train back to Delhi. Arrive & transfer to hotel.

The challenge of violent rivers is no less than that of the rugged mountains. The icy heights of the Himalayas are the source of some of India's mighty rivers. Fed by innumerable streams, they race along tortuous boulder-strewn beds, cutting deep gorges and breaking into silvery-white rapids.

Rafting in Rishikesh :

The distances in km from some cities are Delhi-214, Agra-386, Ambala-168, Badrinath-325, Dehradun-52, Kedarnath-250, Saharanpur-81, Nainital-386. There are regular buses from Delhi in every 30 minutes. You can take the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) or private deluxe coaches.
